We couldn’t have been more pleased with the warranty re-do of our shower. After Costco washed their hands of us, Jacuzzi had Yancey assigned to do our shower. Cruz advocated for us to have Jacuzzi include a couple of upgrades to help alleviate the trauma/stress of having our shower ripped out for a second time due to no fault of ours. Cruz was very instrumental in getting the correct parts ordered & scheduled in a timely manner. They sent a great craftsman (Guillermo) to do the install & he did top notch quality work. We would recommend Yancy to anyone looking to upgrade their bathroom.

The thought of shopping for a new roof was something we were not excited about. We had a great experience with Yancey Home Improvement for our roof purchase, thanks to Gary Modrall. Gary was patient, informative, and extremely professional throughout the entire process. He took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure we understood every step. What really stood out was that he truly had our best interests in mind and never made us feel pressured. His knowledge and customer service made the experience smooth and stress-free. We highly recommend Yancey Home Improvement and truly appreciate the excellent service Gary provided.

We hired Yancey for a large exterior renovation that included a new roof with solar, dry rot repair, new siding, and a full exterior paint. Because of the size and complexity, we chose Yancey expecting high-quality craftsmanship and better project management than smaller contractors could provide. Unfortunately, our experience did not match those expectations.
The work was sloppy, and we had to repeatedly request corrections to mistakes as the project progressed. The construction team seemed focused on speed over accuracy, and communication with subcontractors was inconsistent. After completion of the roof and part of the dry rot repair, we decided to cancel the rest of the project due to poor quality.
It took almost two months of repeated calls, emails, and texts before we were able to get a partial refund for the uncompleted work, minus a 15% cancellation fee. This added significant frustration to an already disappointing project.
Summary of our experience with Yancey Construction:
Cost: Higher than expected
Budget: Over budget
Quality: Poor—multiple errors requiring rework
Timing: Delays caused by mistakes
Subcontractor oversight: Limited and ineffective
Communication & customer service: Responsive before payment, but poor afterward
We ultimately hired a small local contractor to fix the mistakes and complete the job properly, on time, and on budget. Based on our experience, I would recommend exploring other contractors before moving forward with Yancey.

I’m very excited for my new shower! Slater was very patient and listened to what I wanted with the materials and colors for my new shower area. Can’t wait to see it installed! I feel very secure and confident in the quality I f my project working with Slater and Yancey Home Improvement.

I was referred to Yancey. The first time I tried to call Yancey, I was hung up on. I called a second time, but a different number and was hung up on again. A few days later I get a call from a woman saying they had a missed call from me. I told her my experience and that I didn’t feel comfortable using their services. She did ask if there was anything she could do and I said no. After some thought, I called her back and said I appreciated the call and I’ll give the company a chance. I then scheduled an appointment for a roof estimate. Brian Speaks met me a week later. Nice guy. I appreciated the info he shared with me. Some things I didn’t know to consider when putting a new roof on. Because they can do more than roofs, we talked about other things our home needed to have done including HVAC. He connects me to Doug, who I meet at the house. Brian knew the roof was our priority and on 3/2/26 I had to ask when I could expect the estimate and Brian said he could get me the roof estimate the next day but he was waiting on HVAC estimate. He said he might have that the next day, too. As of today, 3/31/26 I have never heard from Brian or Doug. They completely wasted my time. If they don’t care about providing good customer service, then they may not care about the quality of their work. I went with another company and am so glad I did. Harlan Quality Roofing knows what it means to provide excellent customer service.
